1963 1/2 Galaxie 500 Fastback

I first saw this car in the early part of 2009 being advertised, and straight away I knew it would be a great cat to have.
It has the combination that any Galaxie lover would want. The 1963 1/2 Fastback, which is the most collectable Galaxie model in the US, and the famed R Code 427 engine. This Galaxie was originally fitted with a 390, but now it is the next best thing to the factory R Code, but without paying th price for having the R on the VIN.
There was no way in my wildest dreams that I thought I would ever own a 1963 1/2 Galaxie Fastback, especially with a 427 and 4 speed, but dreams do come true!

This is how the car was advertised.

Originally a Z code – 390/330 hp car.
Engine is now a R Code 427 crossbolt block dated Feb 63 - Centre oiler C3-AE
Heads are C3-D low riser dated last week Jan 63
Block bored to 4.25
Diamond pistons
New H-beam rods
Crank 10 under
Fully balanced
Heads reconditioned with new valves and springs.
New solid cam and lifters.
Manifold is FE dual quad low riser with new 450 Holleys.
Factory cast iron headers.
Cam and rings run in on a chassis dyno – A run up to 4000rpm achieved 302HP at the rear wheels.
4 speed top loader transmission

With the help of Michael the owner, and Anthony the truck driver who inspected it for me, I now own this nice 1963 1/2 Galaxie 500 Fastback 427 4 speed car!

Engine:	427ci R Code V8. 2 x 4 barrel Holleys Factory cast iron headers and twin exhaust.
Transmission:	4 speed Top Loader
Rear Axle:	9 inch, 3.50 ratio
Wheels and Tyres:	Rear: 15 x 6 Front: 15 x 6 Standard black rims with white wall tyres.

The Galaxie loaded on Anthony's tilt tray truck in Adelaide, and on the way to the transport company.

Thurs 20 Aug 2009. Picked up the car this morning from the car transport depot. Car looked good, although a little grubby from the 3000km trip.

First thing to do when I got it home was to give the Galaxie a wash!
