1972 Ford Falcon XA GT
I have owned my GT since 1978.
I purchased it in reasonable condition at the time, but by 1981 it needed a full rebuild, including body, interior, motor and whatever else needed replacing! The car was originally Jewel Green, but when I got it, the previous owner had painted it in Yellow Glow. I soon changed the colour from 'banana' Yellow to Monza Red. The re-build took 4 years, and was basically kept like an XA GT should look, and the car has remained much the same since.

Update July 1, 2006
After 15 years of my GT sitting around at my parents place, and only driven once in the last 7 years, the resurrection of the GT has begun.
Last week, the rotten old exhaust was replaced with a twin 2 1/2 inch system, through a set of Lukey mufflers.
I decided to use aftermarket exhaust tips, and tucked them right up high under the bumper, to give a smoother and fatter look.
The paint job still looks pretty good after all those years, considering it was done 22 years ago!
The photos below show how it looks now, after having the exhaust done. Next up is a bit of re-chroming, and paint touch ups.

Update Sept/Oct, 2006
It is now time to neaten up the engine bay again.
The alloy Boss rocker covers I had chrome plated back in 1988 have seen their better days, with the chrome blistering and beginning to flake off.
Ebay came to the rescue, and I purchased these Pro Comp covers, exactly the same as Motorsport ones, but without the engraving to the tops of them.
A little bit of paint to parts of the engine, and it is just about complete.

Update Sept, 2008
I basically haven't done a lot to the car in the past 18 months, apart from machining the mounting face of the rear wheels to bring them slightly more inside the wheel arches.
While I was at it, the tyres were looking very 70s/80s, so the white lettering went to the inside.
This was done about a year ago.

But over the last few weeks, there has been considerible progress.
Four weeks ago, the front was painted in Monza Red to repair the stone chips.
And today, I painted the radiator support panel.
It's now ready for reassembly.

Plus one day........
Had quite a productive day today, and it even excites me that I spent 2 days in a row working on the car.
Still got a bit more to do though, but it is getting closer.

Sunday 5th Oct 2008.
Pulled the GT out of the shed today, to see if the engine still ran OK, and to prove to the non believers out there that I do in actual fact own a GT Falcon!.
