Over the Years_ 1972 XA GT Falcon
The car was bought in mid 1978.
The original colour from the factory was Jewel Green, but it had been re-painted Yellow Glow by the previous owner before I bought it.  The mags on the car when I bought it were 7" ROH drag mags with 265 50 series BF Goodrich TA's all round. I put 8" ROH drag mags on the rear soon after the purchase.

First engine bay shot shows Jewel Green bay surrounded by the yellow exterior paint.

In 1980, I fitted a hood scoop, originally found on 1970 Ford Torino Cobra Jets.
The scoop I purchased brand new in Melbourne, in a Ford box!

In early 1981, the GT was taken off the road for a full rebuild. The 1 year build soon became a 4 year project. The main plan was to leave it looking like an XA GT should, but with a few custom touches of my own.

The main change as seen in the photos was the change in colour to Monza Red.

Here it is on show, partially re-built at the 1984 All Ford Day at Subiaco Oval, Perth WA.

After completion, I drove it to Canberra for the 1986 Street Machine Nationals.
On very short notice (I was too busy cruising the streets) the car was summoned to the Top 60 Judging area. The car was then judged to be one of the Top 4 Sedans of the event. I thought it was an achievement to make the final judging out of over 1300 entrants after driving over 3000 miles to get to the Nationals.

The overall return trip clocked up around 8,000 miles, via Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne. Plus the home of Australian V8 racing, Bathurst!
The photo shows the GT where a GT should be, the start line on the Mount Panorama track at Bathurst. It is a public road all year round when not used as a racetrack.
