Simon's 1964 Galaxie XL Fastback
Simon's 1964 Galaxie XL was purchased early 2003 with the intention to restore it to original condition. The car had been sitting around for about 8 years before he bought it, and appears to be complete.

The rusty '64 4 door, with the green roof, [image 6] was acquired about 9 months later, to be used as a parts car for the XL, although now it may also undergo a full restoration.

The '70 4 door [image 7] was purchased early 2004, also to be used as a parts car for his 1971 Galaxie Hardtop.
The plan for this now is to be either turned into a Galaxie 1 tonner, or use the front clip, and transform it into a barbeque. Lift the hood to expose the burners and plate, flip the headlight covers open to reveal the drinks on one side and the bbq tools on the other ! ... I like it.
As for which project comes first, your guess is a good as mine.
Lets think about it over a few drinks and a barbeque !!!

As you can see from the images below, all the cars are stored in the latest in 'Hi-tech, Climate Controlled, Secure Car Storage Areas', keeping them in pristine condition, ready for future restoration projects.

Update early August 2005
Over the last week, Simon and Myself have been stripping the 1970 Galaxie to it's bare shell. Simon kept the motor, gearbox, diff, front discs, and whole front clip. I basically kept anything else I could take, including complete dash and pedal assembly, front doors, rear tailights and side marker lights......anything I think I might need. What remains in the photos, is going to a guy named Andrew, who is using the chassis under his 1971 Galaxie LTD Convertible. ........Meanwhile, Simon has acquired another 3 Galaxies......a '63 Convertible and two '64 Sedans!.....and a bundle of '64 spare parts!

Update September 2006
Simon moved house a year or two ago, and it has taken him around a year now to get the shed out the back to how he wants it. Below, are what his collection of Galaxies looks like. Still not enough room, as one of the spare cars remains outside.

The '63 convertible is used regularly, but under the covers in the background, are the three untouched '64 Galaxies, including his XL Fastback, and to the left of the convertible is the '71 Hardtop......One day........
