Lindsay's Ford Telstar Drag Car

Lindsay's Ford Telstar drag car was originally owned and built by the Warlord Drag Team back in the mid 1980's. [image one] It was purchased by Lindsay, and rebuilt in the mid to late 90's. Racing at the now closed Ravenswood Dragway, the car ran in the low 10 second zone. Over the next couple of years , the car got down to a best ET of 9.67 @ 139 mph, running at the new Kwinana Motorplex.

The car now has had a few changes made, most noteably the change from an 830 Holley DP (using AvGas) to alcohol injection. With this change came a new camshaft, new diff ratio in an alloy carrier and new torque convertor. With tuning problems arising from the switch to alcohol, the car has not been consistent or as fast as expected in the 2004 season.

Transmission:	C4 Auto Trans Brake Allfast 8 inch high stall convertor
Rear Axle:	Full Floating 9 inch 5.14:1 Ratio. 35 Spline Axles
Wheels and Tyres:	Rear: 15x14 Front: 13x3 Weld wheels
Performance:	9.67 @ 139 mph

The Telstar will now be retired for the next season, and undergo some rebuilding, and hopefully will bring the car to the 9.50 zone and over 140mph. If this happens, the car will require a chute for extra stopping!
In the mean time, we ( I am one of the crew ) will need to consume the alcohol ourselves!

UPDATE MARCH 2006
Lindsay has decided that the original idea of a freshen up of the Telstar has changed.
The engine will now become a 408 Stroker Cleveland. Some of the new parts have been purchased, and they include the following goodies:
Eagle 4340 4" stroker steel crank, utilising chev size conrod journals,
Lunati 6.125" ultralite pro mod conrods,
Custom 14:1 +030" JE pistons.
Stuff still to come are, TFC single plane alloy intake, CHI aluminium 3V heads, roller cam, roller lifters, titanium retainers, stud girdle.
It is hoped that this new combination will put out around 650hp.

The body has also seen some changes.
The colour is now Blood Orange, as seen in the photos below.
Also, the interior tin work has now been powder coated in a Dark Grey.
